Privacy Policy

This notice describes the processing of personal data related to the Photon Control app and the photoncontrol.eu website.

Data controller

The data controller is Raffaele Musto, Italy, who develops and distributes Photon Control through RM Software Labs. For privacy-related requests, email Raffaele.musto@gmail.com.

Data processed by the app

Photon Control does not require an account and does not use advertising, behavioural analytics, or profiling tools in the app. The USB OTG connection and Android permissions are used on the device to control the camera; information exchanged with the camera is not sent to Photon Control servers, except when the user chooses to send a diagnostic report as described below.

Optional diagnostic reports

Diagnostic reports are optional. The app sends a report only after explicit consent: manual submission requires a one-time choice by the user; automatic submission is disabled by default and can only be enabled through separate in-app consent. Consent for automatic reporting can be withdrawn at any time in the app settings and affects future reports.

A report may contain technical information needed to investigate a malfunction: app version and build code, device manufacturer and model, Android version, camera manufacturer and model, USB vendor and product identifiers, camera capabilities, technical events and PTP operations, response or error codes, error classifications, submission time, and an optional user-entered problem description.

Reports do not include photographs, image files, account credentials, or camera serial numbers. To prevent service abuse, the IP address is transformed into a salted hash and kept only in memory for the technical request-rate-limiting window; it is not stored in the diagnostic report.

We use this information only for technical support, security, and improving app reliability, based on the user's consent. Reports are stored in a private environment and deleted after 90 days. They are not published, used for marketing or profiling, or sent to artificial intelligence services.

Support requests

If you email support, we may process your email address, any name you provide, the content of your request, and any attachments you choose to send. This information is used only to reply, provide support, and handle app-related requests. The legal basis is the performance of pre-contractual or contractual measures requested by the user and, where applicable, the controller's legitimate interest.

Website technical data and cookies

The website does not offer user registration, contact forms, or behavioural advertising. It uses Vercel Web Analytics for aggregated and anonymized visit statistics, such as page views, referrers, approximate geographic area, browser, and operating system. The service does not use cookies and does not allow Photon Control to directly identify visitors.

The website does not use profiling, marketing, or analytics cookies. For infrastructure operation, security, and aggregate analysis, Vercel may process technical data such as IP address, request date and time, requested page, and technical browser information.

Recipients and transfers

Information sent by email may be processed by the email service provider. Website technical data and aggregated statistics are processed by Vercel Inc., the hosting and Web Analytics provider. Diagnostic reports are received through Vercel and stored by the database provider used by the service, with access limited to authorized personnel for the purposes above. We do not sell or disclose personal data. If a provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, transfers take place with safeguards required by applicable law.

Google Play is an independent service operated by Google. Installation and use of the store are governed by Google's privacy notices.

Your rights

Where applicable under Regulation (EU) 2016/679, you can request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, or object to processing. You can also withdraw consent without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing. To exercise your rights, email Raffaele.musto@gmail.com.
